The Greatest Show on Earth

My family and I had the chance to go to the Ringling Bros. Circus at the Palace of Auburn Hills this week thanks to Mom Central. We had a great family night out that I am sure our children will remember for a long time. Before the circus started we had a chance to go down on to the floor and meet the stars of the show and see some of them perform up close.

If you haven't been to the circus for a while this is a great show to see with all the classic acts and animals with some new twists as well. This year there show is a Bellobration featuring Bello the clown.
My kids loved Bello and we were very impressed with his athletic ability. We learned that Bello came for a circus family. Bello slowly progressed from clown to daredevil, learning all he could along the way. His dad, Eugen, invented the act Bello now does, the sway pole. This contraption goes up to 90 feet and is flexible, adding more suspense as Bello climbs to the top and does his routine. "You learn to respect your heights and not be afraid of it," Bello said. "We're all human, and we know what can happen. I spent three years on a sway pole that was three feet tall, so it became home to me. I practiced for hours each day and kept growing in increments of 10 feet." His father came to America from Switzerland in 1954 to work for Ringling Bros., and his mother, Aurelia, was hired that same year. The two were married in 1955 and headlined the three-ring circus.

If you get a chance to see the show you should. As we left to go home my son said "That was the Greatest Show on Earth."
