Horsing Around

The kids and I had a great day spending time with a friend and her horse River. The kids had fun brushing him, walking him around, feeding him and of course riding him. We even talked them into cleaning up after another horse. I love horses and River is a wonderful beautiful horse. At first he was not sure about the kids but he soon warmed up and all the kids got to ride him. It was a great afternoon.

Stick to the Word

I recently came across this great site called  Stick to the Word.  They offer vinyl clings with scripture on them to help you with verses that you are trying to memorize.   Our ladies Bible class memorizes a scripture each week.  I am always emphasizing how much it helps to write and put somewhere that you can see it every day.   These clings can go on your refrigerator, mirrors, metal and glass surfaces or windows where you can read them everyday.

Visit Stick to the Word   and check to see the Scripures that they have.  Right now it even looks like they are offering free shipping.

Sing Along With Barbie DVD Review

My daughter loves Barbies just like her mother did at her age.  She is a big fan of all the Barbie movies as well.   I often hear the names used in the  movies as  she is playing with her dolls.  When I heard of the new  Sing Along  with Barbie DVD I was so excited for her to see it.  To my disappointment she was less than thrilled to when she saw it.  She told me she was too old for sing alongs.  Seven years old surely was not too old in my eyes so I put it in to see what her reaction would be.  She was a little more receptive and I think enjoyed watching it.  She recently got Barbie and The Diamond Castle  and I caught her singing a bit from some of the songs from that movie. So I must admit that she hasn't watched it much or had much singing along fun but I am sure that I will catch her watching it again. I have to admit also that I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the DVD.  I though it would be more like a video with the words but it is just clips from the movies with the music to them.

If you have a daughter who loves Barbie like mine this would make a nice gift for them. Since it has the lyrics on the screen it is great for kids who can read. My personal opinion is girls that are Pre-K and kindergarten would probably enjoy it the most.  My daughter is having a some friends over for a spa night and I am sure they will all have some fun with it.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Mattel. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

Music Moms Review - Celtic Woman Songs From the Heart.

After spending many summers in Scotland I have become very fond of Celtic music. Having that love for Celtic music I became aware of Celtic Women several years ago and have seen them several times on my local PBS station. This exciting  5 member Irish female ensemble known for putting a modern twist on the Celtic Sound have come out with a new CD Songs From the Heart. The Songs from the Heart CD includes contemporary hits like Sting’s “Fields of Gold” and Billy Joel’s “Goodnight My Angel.”  Despite the new twist I must admit that my favorite song on the CD is "Amazing Grace"  which still manages to send chlls down my spine.

I have not seen Celtic Woman on tour put I would love to one day.  The are currently touring the across the US with their Songs From the Heart tour .  You  can go here to check out their tour dates and to see if they are coming to a city near you.  They also have a upcoming PBS special of the the tour  you will want to check out if you cannot see them in person.

I was given this CD to review from Music Moms but the opinions are purely my own.  No other compensation was received.

Super Savings Saturday-$20 at Meijer

It has been a long time since I did a Super Savings Saturday post.  I finally had a good savings week and was able to get all of the above for just over $20 at Meijer .  I know it is not the best picture but there are 24 items and the savings with sales and coupons was $38.   It has been a while since I have had a good savings week.  I am again convinced that taking the time to match my coupons with sales helps the grocery budget to go a long way.

OxiClean New Products Review

As moms we know what a dirty job laundry can be. The stains never cease to amaze me.  Food, grease, grass.  The list goes on and on.  Years ago I started using OxiClean in my laundry and was very pleased with the results.  When I was asked to review a couple of new laundry products that OxiClean has come out with I was so excited.

Later this month you will be able to add two new OxiClean  products  to your stain-fighting arsenal: OxiClean Max Force Power Paks and the Max Force Gel Stick Pre-Treater. You can use the Power Paks to give any load of laundry – whites and colors both – a boost, without dealing with messy liquids or powders. The Gel Stick Pre-Treater works best on tough stains – even ones that set-in on clothes for a week! Just rub the gel into the fabric and let it sit for a few minutes before throwing it into a normal load of laundry.

Each of these new products contains OxiClean's "4-in-1 stain fighting power" so whether grease, oil, blood, or dirt, appears on clothing, you know that dabbing with OxiClean will leave the garment looking new again after just one wash.

Shortly after I received these products I was opening a bottle of salad dressing and it splashed up and got all over a brand new shirt.  I was so upset.  It was the perfect time to try out the new Max Force Gel Stick Pre-Treater.  I treated the spots and let the shirt set for a few minutes and then washed it.  I also used a Power Pak in the wash and my shirt came out with only 1 small grease stain, which I assumed was a spot I missed.  After the next wash it was gone.  These products are going to be a great addition to the OxiClean. line of products.  I am now out of the Power Pacs and can't wait until I can buy more.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of OxiClean and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

Congrats to #20 Karin who is the winner.

Co

Looking for a special gift for give for Valentine's Day.  You need to check out Benjamin Twiggs.  They have some great Cherry Products that are made in Northern Michigan.  Being from Michigan I know how wonderful Michigan cherries can be.  There are many of their products that I would love to try.  I was lucky enough though to be able to try their Bing Cherry tea.

From the moment I opened the bag I could smell the lovely aroma.  I found the tea to be very light  with a refreshing fruit taste. I don't think it a tea I would drink daily but it was great for a special treat.

Benjamin Twiggs has been kind enough to send me a bag to giveaway to one of my winners.  To enter visit Benjamin Twiggs and tell me another product you would love to try.

Pepsi Refresh Project

I am sure that you are familiar with Pepsi and the great products they make.  But did you know that Pepsi has launched a great project called the Pepsi Refresh Project which is aimed at giving back to communities.

With the Pepsi Refresh Project, Pepsi will give away more than $20 million dollars to fund all kinds  of projects  that help make communities better. Pepsi has invested significant resources, and opted not to advertise during  the Superbowl game this year, in order to support meaningful social projects.   I am sure that your community may have a special need, maybe a local playground needs an upgrade to make it more handicapped accessible; a park needs new lights or speed bumps to make it safer; or your favorite library needs new computers.  There are so many possibilities and Pepsi wants to hear what needs they can help fulfill for you and your community.

Every month, you have the opportunity to submit a project in one of six categories: health, arts & culture, food & shelter, the planet, neighborhood, or education. At the end of the month, Pepsi will post the top submissions on their website and let the public vote on who should win   the grants ranging from $5,000 to $250,000 (totaling up to $1.3 million dollars!) How exciting is that!

You and your family  can get involved in the Pepsi Refresh Project in two ways beginning February 1. If you and your family have a fantastic idea for an improvement you'd like to see in your community, submit it for consideration for the March round of grants. You can also visit RefreshEverything.com and vote for your favorite from those grants that were submitted in Feburary. With so many cool and meaningful ways to give back, I am very impressed that Pepsi is doing their part to help.

For more information and submission tips you can also visit the Refresh Project blog.  I hope you will think about getting involved.  If you don't have an idea of your own be sure to vote.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Pepsi Refresh. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
