Second Chances with SOYJOY

I discovered SOYJOY bars a few years ago at CVS.  I will be honest I only bought them because I could get them for free.  I am a big bar eater as I often eat breakfast on the run.  SOYJOY soon became a bar I would buy quite often.  They were not my favorite but they got the job done and I felt they were a healthy option. This month SOYJOY launched their new and improved bars with a lighter, moister texture and naturally enhanced fruit flavor. SOYJOY bars still have the same natural, minimally processed ingredients, such as ground whole soybeans and real fruit, and contain no trans fat or hydrogenated oils.  They are great and I agree they taste much better.  They have also come out with 2 new flavors Blueberry and Banana.

In celebration of the new SOYJOY and in the spirit of second chances, SOYJOY is also hosting the "Second Chances" contest.  Visitors to SOYJOY's  Facebook page (www.facebook.com/soyjoy) can enter to win one of three $1,000 prizes by briefly telling their own personal story about a time they did not make the best first impression but, with a second chance, turned it into a wonderful ending. Entries can be submitted in the form of a 30-second video or a 100-word written story.  The submission period ends October 3.

You can find SOYJOY in the nutrition bar aisle of fine grocery, drug, mass merchandise,
health, natural, food and convenience stores. Find a local retailer and all product details on
SOYJOY.com..

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of SOYJOY and received samples of their nutritional bars to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central also sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Here's To You Denard Robinson.

On the way to the Michigan song I heard this song on the radio. I thought it was so cute that I had to share. It is nice to have something positive to talk about  again in regards to Michigan football. My daughter and I had a great time at the game and it was fun to see Denard in action.

A Back Yard Safari

We had a wonderful time this summer playing outdoors and just being outside.  The kids are back in school but after homework I still encourage them to play outside  and enjoy nature.  Fall is a great time to be outside and yes the bugs are still there to catch.

Children can now get up-close and personal with nature right in their own backyard or nearby park. Backyard Safari Outfitters equips young explorers with all the essential field gear they could possibly need for scoping out local “wildlife,” from insects in the grass to birds in the sky to frogs in a pond -- and more!  Kids can choose from a broad array of fun gear and tools, including the practical and very snappy looking Cargo Vest, as well as the cool Bug Vacuum, Mega View Periscope – among dozens of other choices.

My daughter loves her Backyard Safari gear and her brother even used the vacuum to get rid of spiders found in the house. Their products are also great to take to the park or on a camping trip.  I love the fact that their products get my kids off of the couch and back into nature.  They love playing with the gear they have.

If you would like to find out more about their products you can follow Backyard Safari Outfitters on twitter or facebook.  You can buy their products here or on Amazon.

I received Backyard Safari gear to review for Team Mom.  No other compensation was given.  All opinions are my own.

We Have been Shocked!

My kids love to ride their scooters.  My son had his scooter stolen earlier this summer which upset him since he could no longer ride scooters with his sister.  I did not tell him I wa getting this to review so when it arrived he was quite pleased.

The Shox Scooter is  the first-ever active shock absorber scooter that allows riders to perform higher, faster, more awesome tricks! Unlike traditional scooters, the Shox Scooter’s supreme shocks increase a rider’s speed and air-time, making stunts bigger and better
This is a very nice looking scooter and fun for kids to play on.  I have to admit at first my son a hard time getting use to the design since it was different from his other scooter.  Once he made the adjustment the fun began and he is enjoying showing off on it to me and anyone else who would watch . He was shocked at  how much he was able to do. Several kids have also asked him where he got his scooter and want to try it out.

The Shox Scooter retails for about $60.  It can be found at major sporting good stores as well as at Toys R Us and FAO Shwarz.  It can also be purchased online at Amazon.

I was given this scooter to review from Team Mom.  No oter compensation was given.  All opinions are my own.

Seventh Generation Back to School Giveaway

Yesterday was the big day in our household.  Time to go back to school.  There is always so much to think about at this time of year. My husband and I talked about how great it was over the summer with no sick kids and now they are going back to school and so are the germs right along with them.

Luckily enough along with the school supplies needed we also have been asked to help supply our classes room items that will help keep the germs away.

With nearly 22 million school days lost each year due to the common cold and flu (CDC) and as many as 2.7 million bacterial found per square inch on common school surfaces (NSF International), it´s no wonder that 82 percent of parents with kids in grades K-5 fret about the germs in their children´s classrooms (according to a survey conducted by Seventh Generation).

This school year, Seventh Generation is sharing tips from best-selling author and pediatrician, Dr. Alan Greene, to help parents protect their child´s health during back-to-school season. Dr. Greene suggests taking the following precautions:

Optimize the immune system
Reap the benefits of probiotics like those found in yogurt. A recent study showed that children who received enough probiotics daily throughout the cold and flu season had a significant reduction in the number of illnesses they had and, when they did get sick, the symptoms were both milder and didn't last as long.

Be sure your child is getting plenty of vitamin D from the sun, from food, or from a supplement.

Build a strong foundation. Good food, good sleep, and good physical activity all help the immune system to flourish.

Be wise about reducing unnecessary exposure to harmful germ.

Teach children the key times to clean their hands in the classroom. The most important times include after sneezing, coughing or using the restroom, upon leaving "high-risk" places (recess, nap time, play stations) and before meals or snacks.

Sixty percent of teachers surveyed said that they request that parents donate disinfecting wipes to the classroom. Seventh Generation´s disinfecting wipes kill 99.99% of germs* naturally using the active ingredient thyme, a component of thyme oil which is derived from the herb thyme.

Stress the importance of not touching their eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.

Demonstrate to your children how to cover their mouth and nose for every cough and sneeze. This simple maneuver has spectacular results in decreasing the spread of viruses and bacteria floating about the room, waiting to be inhaled.

We have been using Seventh Generation products around our home and I am so glad they are environmentally friendly and I feel safe using them around my family.  I also donated wipes to my daughter's classroom so they can have safe products in there as well.

Thanks to Seventh Generation and MyBlogSpark I have a great prize pack to give away to one of my readers.  The "Back-to-School" kit that includes a Seventh Generation backpack, two canisters of Seventh Generation disinfecting wipes (one for home and one to donate to your child´s classroom), disinfecting multi-surface spray cleaner, facial tissue and paper towels.

To enter to win leave a comment telling me something you do to keep the germs at bay at home or at school.

David Garret-Rock Symphonies Review and Giveaway,

As a Music Mom I recently received a copy of David Garrett's Rock Symphonies CD.    It was waiting for me when I got back from vacation.  I am not a big rock fan but I decided it may be fun to listen to  o keep me moving.  while I was working on laundry and unpacking all my camping supplies  I was surprised art how much I enjoyed listening to  his music especially "The 5th"  which is based on Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

Rock Symphonies, the latest release from best-selling classical artist David Garrett, breathes new life into the classic music genre.  A unique blend of classic violin music and contemporary rock songs, Rock Symphonies is a moving celebration of Garrett’s two loves: classical music and the rock-and-roll songs of his generation.

A child prodigy born in Germany, Garrett has been amazing fans around the world since he was a young boy.  By age 12, Garrett was playing on stage with the London Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Russian National Orchestra. His self-titled debut album, David Garrett, debuted in the states at #1 on the Classical Crossover Chart and held the position for 31 solid weeks in 2009.

Be sure to visit david-garrett.com to learn more about this artist and his latest album.  Rock Symphonies is available at Best Buy, itunes and Amazon.

Thanks to Music Moms I also have an autographed copy of Rock Symphonies to giveaway to one of my readers.  To win just visit david-garrett.com and  come back and leave a comment telling me something you learned about David.
