Listerine Oral Care Challenge

With Halloween being tomorrow you know that means one thing.  Our children are going to eating lots of candy.  October seems to be a month full of sweet treats. With all the candy and sweets of course we worry about our kids teeth.  As Moms, although we may try our best to teach our kids the proper brush and floss routine, the U.S Department of Health and Human Services states that 50 percent of kids between the ages of 5 and 9 get a cavity or filling.

During the month of October our family has been onthe Listerine and Reach "Oral care Challenge".   Our Family  made sure  to brush, floss and rinse every day, twice a day for two weeks—a key step in building a strong foundation of good oral care habits. What a challenge it was but we are working hard at good oral habits.

To help in our challenge we received Listerine Cool Agent Blue which is a product we love in our home. Agent Cool Blue is a pre-brush tinting rinse. Used before brushing, it tints teeth blue so kids pay attention when cleaning their teeth; giving kids a sense of accomplishment that they are doing a good job and reinforcing the positive behavior.  I have to say when my daughter saw the box she jumped up and down.  It was like we were receiving a box of candy.  Not only did they get the Listerine Cool Agent Blue but also the Smart Rinse as well. Smart Rinse is an anticavity mouthwash for kids ages six and older that helps clean and protect teeth beyond brushing alone.I can't say enough good things about these 2 products and how much our kids love to use them.  They have made a huge difference in how are kids brush their teeth and you will always find them by the sink.

Take the Two Week Challenge!

Here's some fun tips to get children in the habit of brushing, flossing, and rinsing twice a day:
  • Post a calendar in the bathroom where your children brush
  • Have them place stickers on each day that they flossed, brushed, and rinsed (2x/day)
  • Reward them for each sticker they earned at the end of two weeks

My husband and I received  Listerine Total Care.   It is also a great product  with 6 ways to a cleaner healthier mouth.

  • Helps Prevent Cavities
  •  Restores Minerals to Enamel
  •  Strengthens Teeth
  •  Kills Bad Breath Germs
  •  Freshens Breath
  •  Fights Unsightly Plaque Above the Gum Line
You can find coupons for Listerine Kids products here.

Disclosure : I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Listerine and Reach and received Listerine and Reach products for the Oral Care Challenge and a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Pajama Day and Tea

My daughter is home sick today so  I decided we would both just spend the day in our pajamas.  I have a great rooibos tea from Kalahari Tea so I decided to make a big pot for us to share. Rooibos tea  has  great health benefits and it is good for kids as well because it has no caffeine.  I pulled out my daughter's special cup and filled it with a comforting cup of tea.  Hopefully she will be better soon but today we will just enjoy lounging and drinking tea.

Thank you Lisa for reminding me how much I love this tea.

Magnificent Manicure Kit Review

Team Mom recently sent us the Magnificent Manicure Kit to review.  I knew from the start this would be a big hit with my daughter.  Since the age of 3 my daughter loves to have pedicures and manicures thanks to her aunt.  When the package arrived my daughter was so excited she could not wait to try it.  We set up our own beauty spa and had some fun mother and daughter time.  I love the fact that she is learning things about science while she is having fun.

The Magnificent Manicure Kit is for ages 8 and above. Learn about cosmetic chemistry as kids give themselves a magnificent manicure. They can turn hands silky soft with crystal mud and then soak them in a sea salt scrub. Create your own custom scent of lotion, buff and shine nails and much more. Custom scent your own spa line. Not to be used without adult supervision.  It is a science learning kit designed for girls.

With Christmas just around the corner you may want to check out this product if you are looking for a great learning toy for your daughter.  Scientific Explorer parterened wuth UC Berkley's Great Exploration in Math and Science (GEMS) program to create fun educational  science kits  like the Magnificent Manicure Kit.  The Magnificent Manicure Kit has been named the Creative Child Magazine's 2009 Toy of the Year in their Educational Toys category.

You can find  this toy in Toys R Us stores nationwide for about $19.99.  It can also be found online at Toys R Us or on Amazon.

Victorian House Scones- Review and Giveaway

As a tea lover there is nothing that I like better with a cup of tea than a good scone.    I am always on the look out for good scone recipes or scone mixes.  A few months back I came across this great company on the web called  Victorian  House Scones.  I was rather intrigued by their site and their scones looked really good.   I contacted them and they were kind enough to send me their Pumpkin Spice Scone Mix to review.

The scones were easy to make.  I just added butter, pumpkin and buttermilk to the mix  and baked them according to the directions.  With the addition of the pumpkin it made the scones very moist and very yummy.  They are a great fall treat to go with a cup of tea  or hot spiced cider.  They are so good that you can enjoy them any time of the year though.  I was able to share mine with a few friends and they enjoyed them as well.

You can go to Victorian House Scones and check out their other scone mixes.  They range in price from $7.25-$8.50.   I am not the only one who thinks they make a great scone mix.  These scones were voted the Best New Product at the 2009 Tea Expo.  They would make a great  gift for a tea lover or the perfect scone to serve at your next tea party.

The best news is that Victorian House Scones are kind enough to give a Pumpkin Scone Mix(you add pumpkin butter and buttermilk)  to 2 of my readers to try for themselves.   To enter visit Victorian House Scones   and come back here and leave a comment telling me which scone mix sounds best to you.

Time for Tea Tuesday- Teacup Tales

Lisa over at Stop and Smell the Chocolates is hosting Teacup Tales today and I just new I had to take part.   If you have not checked out her blog before you need to check it out.

I few months a go I  started  a series of postings about Royal-tea.  I never got around to finishing that series so today I will share with you another of my royal teacups.

I received thus  teacup for my birthday 3 years ago and it is one of my favorites.  It is on display and I have never had a sip of tea from it.  This teacup is part of  The Royal Collection .  It was designed to celebrate H.M. Queen Elizabeth II's  80th  Birthday on April 21, 2006.

It is a beautiful teacup. I would imagine the nicest that I own.  I hope that it will stay in my family for generations. How exciting to know the Queen drank tea out of one just like it.

Next week I hope to have a linky back up again for you to link your tea posts.  My has stopped working do I think I will move on to another linky service.

Happy Sipping.

12 Things to Do this Fall

Picture taken at the Gotta Scrap Inn

While reading through the recent addition of Christian Woman Magazine  I came across this great list of things to do this Fall.  I loved it so much I wanted to share it with you.  I have changed up a bit to include tea.  Enjoy this beautiful season.
  1. While doing chores burn some scented candles that remind you of fall.
  2. Take a loaf of pumpkin bread to a shut-in.  Take a long some tea for a nice chat.
  3. October is Fire Safety Month.  Have a practice fire drill from your home with your family.
  4. Sit around your patio fire pit and drink hot apple cider.
  5. Invite a friend over for a nice fall flavored tea and great conversation.
  6. Perform a random act of kindness.  Do Something Nice Day is Oct. 5th.
  7. Visit a country store and buy some slices of bologna, a loaf of bread, and a bottle of soda.  Find a sunny bench and enjoy your lunch and the colors.
  8. Spend some time enjoying the Fall leaves.  Rake them and then jump in. Or press a colorful collection between wax paper like you did as a child.
  9. Bake some pumpkin shaped cookies or make a healthy jack-o'-latern snack, add some orange food coloring to cream cheese and spread it on a rice cake.  Add raisins to make the eyes, nose and mouth.
  10. Visit an apple orchard and get some fresh apple cider and don't forget the donuts.
  11. During October read a horror classic such as Frankenstein or The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
  12.  Put the money you save by using coupons aside for shopping the day after Thanksgiving
